Oscar’s Monkey Business

Mr. Oscar Monkey is a nonprofit organization, founded by Emily Blosberg, that supports children and their families on their journey with MS. Emily graciously navigated the challenges of MS as a teen and is now helping others walking a similar path. Her mission is to connect children and teens with MS from across the world.

  • How did it all start? Emily loves to work with her hands. When she was diagnosed with MS at the age of 15, she sewed a sock monkey from a pair of orange hunting socks and named it Oscar.
  • Oscar’s Buddies Emily makes Oscar’s Buddies to go out into the world to be a friend to anyone that requests one. To date, she has sent almost 500 buddies to families around the world.
  • Oscar’s Buddy Bash Families living with pediatric MS gather each year on President’s Day weekend to share a long weekend of fun, fellowship, stories, education, and laughter.
  • Oscar’s Teen MS Camp An annual event where teens have fun and build lifelong friendships as they grow and learn together how to beat MS.
  • Just a Phone Call Away Emily holds a Zoom call twice per month for teenagers with MS or a similar diagnosis. She also hosts calls for kids 12 and under whenever there is a need.
  • Looking ahead Emily’s goal for 2021 is to start a scholarship fund through Mr. Oscar Monkey, offering fifteen $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors.
  • Young Adult Retreat An upcoming fellowship opportunity for graduating seniors to connect with each other and remain a part of the Oscar community.
